Civil works handover
A delivery study of information that remains useful after the construction team leaves.
Begin with the future user
An asset owner needs to locate information by the asset they operate, not by the order in which the contractor created files. The study starts with likely maintenance and inspection questions. These questions inform the index, naming approach and responsibilities for keeping the record current.
Connect changes to the asset
Approved changes, inspection evidence and completion information are checked against the relevant asset reference. Open items remain visible with an owner. A large folder is not treated as a complete handover simply because all of its files can be opened.
Review the retrieval
A colleague unfamiliar with the package is asked to find a drawing and follow a change back to its approval. Difficulty in that exercise reveals a problem with the index or context. The resulting improvements make the record easier to use without claiming an unmeasured operating outcome.
