Where water meets civil works
A treatment or supply programme depends on well-defined interfaces.
Separate authority from access
Permission to work beside a water asset is different from authority to change its operating state. A project interface register should identify both. This prevents a programme assumption from being mistaken for an operator decision.
Plan the conversation early
Ask the operating organisation what information it needs to review a proposed connection. Include civil-work status, applicable drawings and unresolved questions in one coherent package. Repeated exchanges of incomplete material can obscure the real decision required.
Keep readiness visible
Distinguish completed work, evidence awaiting review and conditions that remain outside the construction team’s control. A shared readiness list makes the next discussion more specific. It also avoids describing a calendar date as a confirmed operating arrangement.
