Beyond completion
An asset record starts during construction, not at final handover.
Write for the operating question
The future owner will ask how to locate, inspect and maintain an asset. Organise completion information around those questions. The construction sequence can remain part of the history without becoming the only way to navigate the record.
Avoid the final-week archive
Collect approved changes and relevant evidence as work progresses. Assign ownership for checking references while the people closest to the work are available. A late collection of files cannot reliably recover context that was never recorded.
Agree who maintains it
A handover package starts the next phase of the asset record. Make responsibility for updates explicit and distinguish the agreed baseline from later changes. Continuity depends on that ownership as much as on the format in which the original information was delivered.
